I do not dream very often, so when I do dream it usually makes a deep impression on me.
I once dreamed that I was living in a hut on a tropical island. I lived there alone and there was nothing to do. In my dream I began to ask: why would God place me here, all alone and isolated from the world? What good am I here in solitude? This must be a mistake. There must be a way to get off this island.
As I was pondering my next steps I heard a roar overhead. A passenger jet was trying to land on my deserted island. Unfortunately there was nowhere to land, and as I watched I realized it was going to crash. I ran back into my little hut and grabbed my rescue gear that was stored conveniently next to my bed. Why would I have rescue gear on a deserted island? Coincidence? As I stepped back outside I saw the plane had crashed in the distance and exploded. As I started to run towards the fire it dawned on me that I was sent to this particular island "for such a time as this." End of dream.
What I learned from that is you may not fully understand or appreciate the circumstances, the place, the season that God has you in. It may seem like a waste. But there comes a critical moment when you are called upon to help, or speak, or support, or pray, and you realize that your steps have been ordered by the Lord. Nothing is by chance, or whim, or fate, or luck. You are the right person, in the right place, at the right time, and you have a Kingdom purpose to fulfill.
I hope this new year will instill in you a new sense of that purpose and direction as you seek first the Kingdom of God and allow Christ to have the preeminence in your life.
I am your brother,
