From the Editor
I recently watched an interview on television with a grey-haired graphic designer. Many years ago he created a distinctive logo for a company that still uses his design today. The reporter remarked that the logo was very "simple," suggesting that it must have been an easy project. The designer just smiled and said, "The simple designs are the most difficult to produce."
The premise behind this little magazine is also very simple. We look for writings that will bring the Lord Jesus more clearly into focus, words that will bring something of Christ to the reader and impart spiritual life. Quality, not quantity. That is a relatively simple standard, but oh how difficult it is to find material that meets that criteria! Much of my time as an editor is spent searching, scanning, reading, and ultimately rejecting most of what I read as being too religious, too wordy, too theological, too theoretical, not sufficiently focused on Christ, or simply lacking the vim and vigor of real Life flowing from the Vine. Yes, the simple projects are the most difficult to produce.
That's one reason why we have scaled back Christology Journal from a monthly to a quarterly publication, following the progression of seasons that God established at the dawn of Creation, with Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter editions. I'm looking forward to a more relaxed - and simplified - schedule.
Maybe we could all do with a little less reading and little more reflecting and relating directly with the One we are reading about. Let this little magazine be a guide, not a substitute.
I am your brother,

Chip Brogden
